SYNOPSIS

Private Santiago gets along poorly with fellow Marines and has gone outside the chain of command to request a transfer from Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Soon after the request, Santiago is found dead, and Lance Corporal Dawson and PFC Downey are arrested for the murder.

Lieutenant Commander Galloway believes Dawson and Downey carried out a “code red” and wants to represent the accused, but the case is assigned to Lieutenant Kaffee, an attorney known for accepting plea deals. After an uncomfortable meeting with Colonel Jessup and Captain Markenson, Kaffee submits a not guilty plea on behalf of the accused at the arraignment, taking the matter to trial. During the trial, witnesses, the prosecutor, and the defense offer multiple perspectives of the incident, culminating in Kaffee finally confronting Jessup on the stand to determine if a code red was ordered.
